Redo Open Heart Surgery
Redo Heart Surgery is a situation where a patient is undergoing a Heart Surgery for the second time or third time. There could be a number of reasons for redo heart surgeries. The previous heart surgery must have been at an earlier age. In childhood, some patients undergo Valve Repairs which in some cases may require replacement after 20 yrs or so.
Sometimes a Mechanical Valve may stop functioning due to improper use of Anticoagulants leading to Redo Surgery for replacement of the Valve.
In other situations, a patient who has undergone CABG at an earlier age can develop new blocks in different arteries requiring a Redo CABG.
In some cases, the disease spreads into the Bypass Grafts done in the first surgery requiring to go for revision of his grafts.
